Built for the work that got weird.
North of Normal exists because AI adoption isn't really about technology.
It's about people trying to make sense of changing work.
We study how people adopt AI in the real world, then turn what we learn into practical guidance and education.
Our work is guided by two principles:
Growth
Helping people and organizations build new skills, better habits, and stronger ways of working.
Continuity
Making sure what people build isn't lost when tools, teams, or technology change.
Because learning something once is valuable.
Building something that lasts is transformational.
About the Founder & Research Director
North of Normal began with one question:
Why do some people confidently adopt new technology while others are left overwhelmed by it?
Amanda Anderson spent years translating complex systems into practical ways of working, helping to build training, documenting workflows, and helping teams navigate change.
When generative AI arrived, that work naturally evolved into research.
Today she studies how people actually adopt AI, then turns those findings into practical education, governance, and implementation through North of Normal.
